Department of Asian Holistic Health & Massage - Chicago Massage Therapy/Asian Bodywork Certificate The Massage Therapy/Asian Bodywork certificate offers significant training for body therapy for clients and prospective employers. This program at Pacific emphasizes Oriental medical theory, tui na and the development of the students’ ability tounderstand the causes and symptoms of disease. This ability will allow Pacific massage practitioners to customize their massage therapy to their client’s individual needs. This is critical in achieving the optimum therapeutic effect. Asian Bodywork Therapy has grown into a recognized specialty supported by the American Organization of Bodywork Therapies of Asia and certified by the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Students in this program receive an introduction to the valuable theories of Chinese medicine and specialize in a multitude of Asian bodywork therapies, including tui na, shiatsu, thai massage and others. The Massage Therapy/Asian Bodywork program prepares students for certification by National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and by National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. Graduates are also eligible for membership in the American Organization of Bodywork Therapies of Asia. The Massage Therapy/Asian Bodywork students will successfully complete the following courses to earn their certificate. Total program hours are a minimum of 600, or 33.5 credit hours.
